Locally Available Diet
I believe in order to sustain our farming community and bring healthy, seasonally and culturally appropriate foods back into our diets we will have to begin to produce more of our foods closer to home and transport them less. I am not insinuating that shipping food is necessarily a bad thing, only that we should rely on a more seasonal and locally available diet and consider imports a luxury. In the current food culture in the United States, locally produced and artisan foods are seen as cottage industry products, while lower quality processed foods are purchased as staples.
